Donkey?

Caitlin and I were alone in the car and she asked, "Mom, when there is a cuss word in a song, is it alright to sing it."
I quickly replied with a "nope."
She then proceeded to tell me that "if a song says the h-word I will say well. And if they say the OMG word I will say Oh My Gosh. And if they say the a-word, I will say donkey....Do you get it?"
Oh, I got it!

Caitlin is our little comedian. She is always so clever and never ceases to surprise us with her quick wit. I love that girl!

On a side note, Caitlin lost her first tooth today, she was so excited to get a visit from the tooth fairy.

Caitlin's journal entry today, posted with permission.

Lost my first tooth! It is so exciting! When I go back to school my teacher will fill it out.

Kookies with the Kids

Caitlin was little helper. She made the cookie dough and frosting. Her favorite part was enjoying the perks of being the cook... getting to lick the beaters.

Carsten is always pretty serious with his decorating. He was very proud of his tree.

After decorating dozens of cookies, Carsten and I got bored with the traditional ideas and came up with this...reindeer poop.

The Sheets

First, let me say I have really smart kids. I don't say that to brag or toot my own horn. They are just all smart in school. I am blessed, I know. This is the reason I am always so dumbfounded when they do something absolutely dumb. Today was one of those days...
This afternoon, I gave Carsten his set of sheets, told him he needed to change sheets and bring the dirty ones upstairs. He disappears for a little bit and then runs past me with his dirty sheets on the way to the laundry room. Awesome I thought, he did it without complaint or me having to remind 3,000 times. I was almost in awe. Later, I went upstairs to put on the next load of clothes and became confused. In the pile of sheets Carsten had brought up were cream and white sheets. If you know me you can probably guess that I do not mix-match sheets. So I dig deeper to find the bottom sheet is still folded in the pile of "dirty" sheets along with 2 of the three pillowcases.
Apparently Carsten thought I wouldn't notice if he only changed the top sheet and 1 pillowcase. REALLY!?!

Caitlin Day?

While we decorated the tree tonight, I asked the kids about their favorite Christmas traditions or if there were any they would like to start. Carsten and Carissa answered with pretty typical answers, decorating the tree and making cookies. Apparently Caitlin only heard the words new & holiday and quickly answered that she thought we should start a "Caitlin Day" that happens the day after Christmas. I guess I should be happy she didn't put herself before Jesus and request we celebrate it before Christmas!
