Remodel... NOT by choice!

So now for the HUGE project of 2011. Absolutely not by choice and at the worst time ever!

On March 22, I came home from class like any other day. I casually walked into the living room to drop off my stuff at the desk and was greeted by a large puddle of water in the living room. I quickly looked up knowing the girl's bathroom is above, discovering water dripping from the ceiling. Panicking, I flew up the stairs to be greeted by yet another puddle of water that had flowed from the girls bathroom into their carpeted bedroom! I shut off all the water valves and grab every towel available and my nightmare began...
I called Eli on several numbers and he did not answer. At this point my shock and emotions have started to take over. I finally get the office manager on the phone and I am so overcome she can barely understand me. She sweetly tells me to take a deep breath and that everything will be alright. Finally Eli gets on the phone and I am hysterical. I don't do well with mess and that was just a little much for me. I was also thinking about getting my homework done, cause I knew this was not going to be a quick project.
So Eli came home and called insurance and that whole process began...

This was after the water damage people ripped out walls and flooring. The source of the water was a crack in the girls toilet.

We ended up ripping out the majority of the flooring.... EXHAUSTING WORK!

We hired someone to do the drywall but Eli and I handled all the painting, trim and other parts. We even threw in a few unnecessary touches to make things even better, like new lights over my desk and spindles! I love my new spindles.

I haven't mentioned yet why the timing was SOOOO bad.
Well, Eli I were both in school full time this semester and it about killed us between repairs and homework. I still don't know how we survived.
We didn't have a living room for about three months. Things were in every other room and things were CRAZY. This was our bedroom. I could barely sleep with all the ciaos and Eli doing homework till all hours of the morning.

The FINISHED product....
all new hardwood floors.
all new carpet throughout the whole house.
new spindles.
new recessed lighting.
And the best part.....
I GOT MY SANITY BACK!
(and for free since our insurance company went after the toilet manufacturer and we got our deductible back! icing on my cake!)

Final Harry Potter

We were all so excited (and sad) to see the final Harry Potter. We met Heath, LaFae, Adam and Tabby at the theater and loved the movie.
